"Modifying Recipes to be Healthier"

This list of substitutions for decreasing fat, calories, sugar, and sodium, and increasing fiber, is on Ohio State University's website. I think that experimenting with these ideas can probably help parents to modify some of their family's favorite recipes to be more healthy, not just for the kids, but for themselves, so that everyone will have a better health and a better quality of life.

I thought this was a very good article as well. Our elementary school has a program called "Girls on the Run". It sounds similar to the one you were describing. It's for third through fifth grade girls. Children are very formidable at this age, and a healthy habit such as running could stick with them throughout life.
