School Nutrition
I have recently become concerned about what my daughter is eating at school. She is in Kindergarten and this is the first time she has been eating away from me (she's been at home with me since she was born until this year) and making her own choices. I have been looking for information about school nutrition. There is a good website about school nutrition at www.schoolnutrition.org.

I have a 5 year old who has started her school career this year as well. She eats the school lunches, but I have been concerned about what is being served. My mind feels a bit more relieved after looking at this website, especially the section about facts of school lunches under the information for parents. I was pleased to read that there is a standard to which the schools must abide. The pizza is made with low fat cheese and whole wheat crust. French fries are baked, not fried... I was surprised by the amount of vegetables offered through school lunches as opposed to sack lunches from home. According to the site, school lunches provide 7 times the amount of veggies as sack lunches. Wow! That is a lot!!!
